Group Work with Xuanmei Ren

 

Recapture is the name of our Investigating Place Project. The place we explored together is a patch of land located between Hogsmill River and Kingsmeadow Athletic Stadium. It has a separated atmosphere due to the offside nature of the location.

 

At first, we each did some experiments in the workshops and after class, tried different materials and methods to show the location. Then we found that we both like to play with layers and memories. So, we decided to make a piece of animation about the process of building a memory map.

 

We wanted to use a conversation to leading the animation. Moreover, our targeted audience is for the visitors of the athletic stadium that never explored the off-ground that we have explored. In the end, we decided to use pencils and charcoal to draw the animation. For the reason that they can make the images a bit blurry, have more sense of the faded memories.
