The Rite of Spring is two pop-up books based on Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky's music The Rite of Spring.

 

In the first part, I adopted a more cautious pop-up format. It consists of three layers, the front, middle, and back, which inspired me to imitate the stage's foreground, middle ground, and background. This book contains six scenes from the first part of the music. I used the same pop-up format and colour scheme to show the grandeur and solemnity of this ancient spring ritual.

 

The pop-up formats in part two are more variable; for example, it has V-fold, tower structure and pull-strips. This book describes the hero's story more than the illustrations in the first part adds more personal understanding and emotion. It contains five scenes from the second part of the music. I also added some short texts to help with more straightforward narratives.
