The Shadow Builder is a silent graphic novel without any text. The story is about sunlight gradually filtering into the room; a figure plays with the hand shadows and becomes the actual animal.

This story is inspired by a photo and a Chinese fairy tale in the 1950s called Shenbimaliang (神笔马良). I used this simple story to show the loneliness in lockdown and present the relationship between people and nature (animals). I chose to print it in a small size cause it is like a fragment/flash of daily life.
